Privacy Policy

Catalyst Dance Company LLC (“Catalyst Dance Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the family portal at app.catalystdancekc.com (the “Portal”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Portal, how we use it, and the choices you have. It does not cover information collected by our main studio website, which is operated separately.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information — family name, your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and a password, which we store only as a one-way hash.
  • Dancer information you provide — each dancer’s name, optional date of birth, optional gender, optional medical notes, and any additional notes you add.
  • Booking and payment activity — classes booked, payment history, membership status, punch-card usage, and check-in records.
  • Communications we send you — metadata about transactional emails and SMS we have sent (template, recipient, status). We do not store the content of replies you send to our SMS shortcodes.
  • Technical information — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) used to operate and secure the service.

We do not store payment card numbers. Card payments are processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide the Portal — family accounts, dancer profiles, scheduling, bookings, payments, and check-in.
  • To send transactional notifications about your bookings, payments, schedule changes, and class reminders by email and (if you opt in) SMS.
  • To authenticate you, secure your account, and prevent abuse.
  • To keep the financial and attendance records the studio needs to operate.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

3. How we share your information

We share the minimum information necessary with the following service providers (“subprocessors”), strictly to operate the Portal:

  • Stripe — payment processing (your name, email, and payment details you enter on Stripe’s checkout page).
  • Twilio — SMS delivery (your phone number and message content).
  • Resend — email delivery (your email address and message content).
  • Neon — PostgreSQL database hosting (Portal data at rest).
  • Vercel — application hosting (server logs and request data).

Each subprocessor handles data on our behalf, under its own terms and security commitments. We may also disclose information if required by law or in response to a valid legal request.

4. Children’s privacy

The Portal is for use by parents and legal guardians, not by children directly. Account holders must be 18 or older. Parents and guardians enter information about their own children (the “dancers”), and we treat that information as belonging to the parent’s account. Children do not log in to the Portal and do not have separate accounts.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, contact us at info@catalystdancekc.com and we will delete it.

5. Data retention

We retain your account, dancer, booking, and payment records for as long as your family account is active. After an account is closed, we retain financial and attendance records for the period required for tax and recordkeeping purposes (commonly seven years in the United States). Other data is deleted within a reasonable time.

6. Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction — you can view and edit your account, dancer profiles, and contact information in the Portal at any time.
  • SMS opt-out — if you have opted in to SMS, reply STOP to any text message to opt out. You can opt back in by replying START.
  • Account deletion — to delete your account and associated dancer profiles, contact us at info@catalystdancekc.com. We will retain financial records as described in section 5.
  • Marketing — we do not send marketing email or SMS through this Portal. All messages are transactional.

7. SMS messaging program

By opting in during registration, you agree to receive transactional SMS messages from Catalyst Dance Company about your bookings, payments, schedule changes, and class reminders. Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to opt out. Your phone carrier is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

8. Cookies

The Portal uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the application. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking.

9. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption in transit, hashed passwords, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password and let us know promptly if you suspect any unauthorized access to your account.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Portal after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
